Lunchroom Lessons

Updated: Nov 27, 2019

In life, we all have teachers, and we all have "un-teachers" - those individuals who help us unlearn the myths, lies, and other harmful things we've been taught. I am deeply grateful to my un-teachers; I've gained so much from untangling the truths from the lies and determining where I stand with my beliefs. But it certainly would have been easier to have been taught accurate information in the first place!

If you are a parent, there's a lot that you want to teach your child. You work hard to instill healthy lessons at home and you hope that your child's school is reflecting your values. You may be disappointed to discover that what goes on in the lunchroom is not in line with the messages you are trying to convey in your home. If this is the case, here's a resource for you! This letter was written by my colleague Yaffi Lvova, RDN and I with the goal of educating educators about how to create a healthy mealtime environment at school. If you'd like a PDF copy, please contact me and I'll be glad to send you one.

Let's work together to ensure a healthy environment for all of our children! Un-teachers do amazing work, but wouldn't it be great if they could retire in peace?!
